Angel has recently completed her Ph.D. in the Macdonald lab where she studied how certain antimicrobial peptides kill bacteria, so that better drugs can be designed to combat antibacterial resistance. She completed a Bachelors Degree in Arts & Science, with a Combined Honours in Chemistry from McMaster University. Angel is a firm believer that just because she’s now doing “real” science, it doesn’t have to stop being fun. She regularly features the crazier side of her lab on Instagram with experiments that often started with, “What would happen if I did this?

Jennifer is a part of the Zandstra Lab where she is developing a platform to count rare blood stem cells in samples by examining mRNA signatures. She completed her Bachelors Degree in Engineering Sciences with a specialization in Biomedical Engineering. She is the co-founder of STEAMotype, an initiative that blends arts and science on Instagram that showcases beautiful calligraphy. An avid champion of the importance of combining the Arts and Science, her work both scientifically and artistically are a true representation of STEAM.
